Law and Order
I support the Chief of Police in his efforts to ensure that the police
force grows in relation to the population, and that its demographics
reflect the growing multiculturalism of our community.
- We need more than
speed humps to discourage speeding. I believe that photo
radar, in
combination with a comprehensive public awareness
campaign, will do far more to protect our residents from speeders
and aggressive drivers.
- Most accidents occur at intersections. Red
light cameras at
key locations will stop drivers from running red lights and endangering
the safety of pedestrians, cyclists and other drivers.
- With the cooperation
of Markham District Energy, we are establishing a model for other
Canadian communities to identify and shut down marijuana
grow houses.
- Markham is also working closely with York Regional Police
to close illegal body rub parlours.
- By continuing to work with the
Regional and Provincial police forces, we can further improve
safety and security in our community.
