"There is special significance to the "Grand Sport" nameplate. This newest Corvette is a tribute to the most famous competition Corvettes ever, the 1963 Grand Sport lightweight racers. Only five 1963 Grand Sports were built, but these Sting Ray-based machines made history in a hurry. And then they were gone." -1996 Corvette brochure, General Motors.

Of the 1,000 (all sequentially serial numbered) 1996 Corvette Grand Sports made, only 190 were convertibles which makes them very exclusive. 1996 Grand Sport Corvettes are very collectible, and a potential investment. Check out this other low mileage GS convertible with similar options that Pro-Team Corvette of Ohio has just sold with an advertised price listed at $60,000 US.

It was one of only three 1996 Corvette Grand Sport convertibles believed to be in Canada. Only one 1996 Grand Sport convertible was originally sold new to a buyer in Vancouver Canada, and there is believed to be one other that was imported later.
